• DIVINE VS ELYSIAN There is a huge controversy in people's preference of using a Divine vs Elysian spirit shield. A divine spirit shield is guaranteed to reduce damage, at the cost of draining your prayer. Elysian only has a chance to reduce damage, but does not drain prayer. If the Elysian soaks enough damage at a boss for you to be able to do the boss without food, it would be best in slot since the extra damage soak is simply redundant, and you'd save the prayer. At bosses where you do eat, perhaps Divine is the better option to prevent eating more often, at the cost of bringing along and sipping an extra prayer potion. Another pro vs con is that the Elysian is about half the price of a Divine. In the end it's a huge matter of personal preference and while one person may tell you to use an Elysian, another may prefer a Divine, so it's completely up to you.
• DEFENSE VS OFFENSE There are also bosses where players might prefer a Dragon defender, to increase your DPS. In which case they will disagree with the recommendations of using a Divine/Elysian at many bosses in this guide. Again, if that works better for you, do your own thing.
• MIXING HYBRID AND NEX PIECES Sometimes there are cases where a top of one set and a bottom of another set are actually best in slot stat-wise, and thus these recommendations include some strange combinations of different sets of armor. Once again, this guide may suggest the defensive or offensive approach, where someone else would choose the opposite.
• GOLIATH VS TORVA Goliaths are BIS for stab and crush, Torva for slash, but many players choose not to use Goliaths due to the fact that they degrade and may not find the minor DPS boost worth repeating Dom tower for.
• WEALTH VS DKS RINGS As Rings of Wealth (i) greatly increase your chance of a rare drop, and is only slightly less powerful than the imbued DKS rings, many players neglect this tiny bit of DPS and wear the RoW (i) all the time. If the drops are not important to you, you may prefer an imbued DKS ring. You could also bring a ring of wealth as a switch.
• VESTA/STATIUS Technically, specific mixes of Statius and Vesta gear (helm/top/bottom) are best in slot for melee stat-wise. They will not be included in the gear recommendations as they are degradable and are generally only used in the wildy or when you're really desperate to outdps someone. Their info is available on the stat sheet.
• SWIFT/GOLIATH/SPELLCASTER Dominion tower gloves are degradable and players may find it a pain to repeatedly obtain new sets. Some players argue that they are only worth using at specific bosses, such as wildy bosses, and some believe that swift gloves are the only ones actually worth buying at all. Just because they are recommended for being BIS, doesn't mean they are necessarily worth using to you personally.
