The Artisans’ Workshop lets you smith Burial armour using iron, mithril, adamant, or rune ingots—and requires coal. You need 30 Smithing to start.

How to Start Smithing:

  1. Store ores: Use your ores (noted or unnoted) on the central machine to convert them into ingots.

  2. Select the correct side: East side for tier I/II/III ingots (west for tier IV ingots or rather ceremonial swords).

  3. Choose an ingot tier:

    1. Tier I: 38,380 base XP per runite ore, for around 14,400,000 XP/hr
    2. Tier III: 14,402 base XP per runite ore, for around 19,000,000 XP/hr

Generally, you should always use tier I ingots. Tier III ingots use 4 times as many resources, for half the XP per runite ore.

  4. Withdraw ingots: Take a full inventory of your chosen ingot tier.

  5. Smith at an anvil: Click any anvil in the workshop to open the Burial armour menu.

  6. Follow instructions: A “current instructions” box appears at the top. You’ll earn 10% bonus XP for any items you make while following those instructions. However, you are not necessarily required to listen to them.
